(Srilankamirror) – Sri Lanka Cricket has tasked its disciplinary committee with inquiring into the sex scandal involving one of its female secrtaries and a top executive of the Sri Lanka Premier League tournament, who is an Indian national.
The executive committee of SLC has taken the decision to hand over the matter to its member Channa Weerakkody, and Palitha Kumarasinghe, C. Abeygunawardena, H. Rohanadheera and Dinal Philips.
The disciplinary committee has been asked to forward its findings by August 27.
According to reports, the woman employee of SLC and the SLPL executive had been caught in a sex act by the institution’s security last week.
A SLC statement said, “Sri Lanka Cricket takes serious note of these allegations which also tarnishes the good image and the reputation of Sri Lanka Cricket.”
“SLC as an institution shall not condone any such acts of misconduct if proven correct, and will take all steps which are necessary to bring the culprits to book.”
“On the contrary, if such allegations are found to be false, SLC will also take steps to ensure that such persons, who made these allegations, are brought before the disciplinary committee for appropriate action, added the SLC statement.
