Did the man in robes who used drugs in hospital, deliver a sermon after drugs? Featured

The Kohuwala Police had arrested a man in robes who was a resident patient at the Kalubowila Hospital for having used heroin at the hospital and recovered a packet of heroin in his possession.

The suspect from Matugama is a 50-year-old and had become a monk after his wife had left him. He had been living at a meditation center in Matugama and had been admitted to hospital due falling ill.

The ward nurse had noticed the man in robes using heroin in the toilet and had notified the hospital police who had arrested him.

Further investigations are being carried out by the Kohuwala Police Crimes Division on the directives of the Mount Lavinia ASP Samantha Wedage and Kohuwala police OIC-CI Sanath Ranjith.

Meanwhile, commenting on the issue State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake said this monk would have delivered sermons under the influence of drugs which is a dangerous situation. He noted that this is not a situation which is limited to Buddhist monks alone, but there are many other priests of every religion who are using drugs.
