Why didn’t Mahinda speak at Mangala’s event? Featured

Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa had attended Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera’s function to celebrate his 30 year political career claiming to be there only for half an hour, but eventually had stayed right until the end of the ceremony, it is reported.

He had left the function having engaged in a conversation with former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge as well.

The mediation for the function was done by Rajapaksa’s media coordinator Rohan Weliwita.

In the video specially done for Mangala’s ceremony footage of Mangala and Rajapaksa’s friendship was being highlighted.

Mangala too, in his speech spoke of Mahinda Rajapaksa claiming he was his closest friend.

However, there is varying views over social media about Mahinda not speaking at Mangala’s event. It is said that Mangala Samaraweera had invited Mahinda to deliver a speech at his ceremony, but Mahinda had declined to do so as he had not spoken at Minister John Amaratunge’s ceremony marking 40 years in politics.
