Drink more water Featured

Due to the prevailing hot weather the body temperature could rise and people are adviced by the local research team to drink plenty of water.

Professor Channa Jayasumana of the group said fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, Kekiri, cucumber etc which contains cooling liquid.

He also adviced those travelling outdoors between 10.00am and 2.00pm to use an umbrella or use protective head gear.

Change in the dry weather

Meanwhile the Met Department stated that tomorrow and the day after (17, 18) showers or thunder showers could be experienced in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Wayamba, Central, Uwa and Southern provinces during the evenings.

Showers or thunder showers could be experienced in several areas in the Sabaragamuwa, Western and Uwa Provinces and the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm.

The Met Department forecasts that light showers could be experienced in Hambantota, Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts.
