The Sri Lankan Airlines officials had been summoned to the COPE Committee on several occasions and this was revealed during the investigations.
The Sri Lankan Airlines officials had revealed before the COPE Committee that a minimum of Rs. 900 million was required to keep the airline afloat and operational. The officials were summoned before the COPE Committee which is investigating financial irregularities which is alleged to have taken place during the purchase of the Airbus Aircrafts.
According to information revealed during this investigation, it has been revealed that Sri Lankan Airlines is in a situation where it is unable to continue its operations.
